What is Paupi?

Paupi is a free platform for learning languages through reading. You read short Stories at your level from A1 to C1, click on any word you don’t know, and get the translation in context right away. Currently, there are Stories in German, English, Polish, and Spanish, and the interface speaks eleven languages.

Saved words go into your vocabulary trainer. It uses Spaced Repetition, so it only quizzes you on what's due instead of throwing the whole stack at you every day. You can also have each Story read aloud by real voices, with highlighting for each word or sentence and adjustable speed.

Got your own texts, like from class or a chapter from a book? Upload them and read them with the same click translations. Or have a new Story generated on your topic. You only need an account if you want to save words or keep track of your progress, and you can do that without a password using a code sent to your email.

Which languages can I learn with Paupi?

Right now, German, English, Polish, and Spanish, each with Stories from A1 to C1. More languages will be added as soon as there are enough Stories for them. You get translations in your own language.

What level is Paupi suitable for?

From beginner to advanced. Each Story has a level according to the European Framework (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1), so you can find texts that challenge you but don’t overwhelm you. As a rule of thumb: If you have to look up about every tenth word, the level is right.

Can I upload my own texts?

Sure. Under Upload, you can insert your own text, like from a course or a book, and read it with clickable translations just like any other Story. You can even try it out without an account.
